Patrick is a motivated and hardworking individual, who, as a member of the Agahozo Shalom Youth Village, completed his secondary education with courage, resilience and determination, before coming to UBC. He has been heavily involved in a number of voluntary initiatives that seek to improve the conditions of his community. In high school, he was part of a program called “TIKKUN OLAM”, Hebrew for “Heal the World,” where he helped to secure food, shelter and life insurance for the most vulnerable members of the district. Patrick has continued to support his community through initiatives such as “One Laptop per Child” that teaches children how to use laptops, and “One Acre Fund” that helps farmers increase their yield. After graduation in Bachelor of Science in Land & Food Systems, Patrick will go back to Rwanda to give back all he learned from his time at UBC to his country by working with local farmers as a way to fight hunger and malnutrition.
