Expectations for Participating Employers
To ensure the fair reflects our goals and values, we prioritize the following criteria when selecting participating employers:
- Organizations led by or actively engaging with Black communities, or those with a demonstrated history of meaningful collaboration with them.
- Intentional representation at the fair, ideally through Black staff members who can engage with students and offer insights grounded in their lived and professional experiences. While this representation is important, we also welcome allies who are committed to supporting and advancing Black talent.
- A proven commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, shown through respectful, reciprocal relationships with Black employees, clients, and communities.
- Opportunities tailored for students and emerging professionals, including internships, co-op placements, summer positions, volunteer opportunities, and entry-level roles.
- A demonstrated understanding of the intersection of Blackness and anti-Black racism, reflected in intentional actions that create safe, respectful, and empowering spaces for Black professionals and job seekers.
- Willingness to adhere to our community guidelines to ensure a supportive and positive experience.

Employer Costs
The Black Career Fair has been designed to be accessible and inclusive of a wide range of organizations. We operate on a contribution-based model, allowing employers to contribute an amount that feels appropriate for them, with a minimum contribution of $50.
- Pay What You Can (Minimum $50): For smaller or resource-limited employers
- Sustain and Support ($150–$300): Helps cover basic event costs and student focus initiatives
- Champion ($300+): Help expand programming and long-term opportunities
Your contribution helps cover costs for the event and may also support Black student-focused initiatives on campus, ensuring the fair continues to provide meaningful opportunities and resources for students.
Payments will be collected via UBC CareersOnline upon event registration.
