Chrispus Ongom, a passionate Ugandan forester, is deeply dedicated to nature conservation and the fight against climate change. He graduated with a first-class degree in Forestry, specializing in Natural Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation, from Makerere University in Uganda.

Chrispus has demonstrated leadership and youth engagement in  the international space, notably serving as the Executive Secretary of the International Forestry Students’ Association (IFSA) for the term 2023/2024, following his earlier role as the Regional Representative for Southern Africa (2022/2023). Currently, he is an Intern at the GLFx, Global Landscape Forum (CIFOR-ICRAF), and also plays a vital role in the GLF Africa Project Team.

Having participated in various international conferences as a delegate, including UNFCCC COP28 in Dubai, UAE, the 24th Session of the African Forestry and Wildlife Commission in Arusha, Tanzania, GLF Nairobi Conference in Kenya, and the International Forestry Students Symposium 2023 in Germany, Chrispus actively advocates for environmental education coupled with practical actions to drive meaningful results.

Chrispus is the proud owner of a community tree nursery in Northern Uganda, focusing on cultivating indigenous and fruit tree species to support reforestation and landscape restoration efforts, directly contributing to climate action initiatives.

With a goal to become a global forester inspiring forestry-friendly policies, Chrispus looks at pursuing a Master of International Forestry at the University of British Columbia as an opportunity to further his aspirations in this field
