Faculty: Land and Food Sciences

Program: Master of Land and Water Systems

Year: 2024

Country: Ghana

I am a dedicated individual from a region reliant on subsistence agriculture and natural resources. This background sparked my interest in agriculture and environmental sustainability. Others would describe me as goal-oriented, selfless, and passionate about environmental conservation, sustainable agriculture, and community development. I studied agriculture in high school, and college, and a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from the University of Cape Coast in Ghana.

During my bachelor’s degree, I was the Chapter Organizer for the BridgeAfrica Advocacy Foundation at the University of Cape Coast. I organized discussions to promote ideological diversity and coordinated events fostering an inclusive atmosphere.
As a teaching and research assistant in the Department of Soil Science at the University of Cape Coast, I played a key role in the SustinAfrica project, establishing research fields and helping to organize workshops for local farmers.

I aim to contribute to sustainable agriculture, land, and water resource management through leadership roles, research, and policy advocacy. I aspire to become a world-class soil scientist, environmentalist, and agronomist to contribute to a sustainable and better future for mankind. My master’s in Land and Water Systems at UBC aligns with my passion for environmental conservation and sustainable agriculture, equipping me with the skills to impact my community significantly.

I am excited about the opportunity to receive a world-class education at UBC, in a multicultural community. I look forward to experiencing Vancouver’s vibrant culture and working with various faculties to gain competencies in sustainable land and water resource management.
