Joseph is a graduate of Chizongwe Technical Secondary School in Zambia. His keen interest in forestry and agriculture comes from his experience working to improve his family’s farm yields, as well as working together with members of his village to improve safety and quality of living, especially in the face of challenges posed by heavy rains. He has worked as a Peer Educator focusing on HIV/AIDS prevention education, and organized events for the local community, including inviting doctors to lead seminars in his village. His long-term career goals are to be part of the Zambia Forest Management Board to help improve the management of precious yet limited forestry resources through sustainable development as a key to poverty reduction, enhancing prosperity, and protecting our planet. After researching UBC’s initiatives in Africa, he feels that pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Forestry at UBC will be an excellent step in achieving his goals.
