Tomiyosi is a highly motivated individual committed to research, learning and excellence. He is a First Class Honours graduate in Forestry and Wood Technology from the Federal University of Technology Akure, (FUTA) Nigeria. His academic mentor describes him as having a passion for acquisition and dissemination of knowledge, having an inquisitive mind and strong work ethic. He was elected to serve on different occasions as the Public Relations Officer and General Secretary of the International Forestry Students Association (IFSA) FUTA Chapter. In his final year, he co-founded an NGO named Edenworld Initiative which carries out climate change advocacy and awareness through forest education. As a graduate research assistant at the University of Calabar Nigeria, Tomiyosi has had the opportunity to work in his research interests, forest inventory and biometrics, ecology and forest stand dynamics, geographical information system, and remote sensing.

Tomiyosi has a passion for community service and positive change, he believes that Master of Science in Forestry will expose him to high quality and innovative teaching which will develop his research skills and capacity to better contribute to the body of knowledge at a global scale. He also believes this will better position him to offer workable solutions to several indigenous environmental challenges threatening sustainable forest management in Nigeria. His ultimate goal is to become a proficient data analyst and biometrician in forestry.
