    Lukman has a personality that exudes strong determination and resilience. He graduated with First-Class Honour from Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta with a Bachelor’s in Plant Science. Upon graduation, he transitioned to data analytics where he boasts of an impressive track record of over 6 years as a data professional, with diverse experience spanning Nigeria’s banking, FINTECH, and telecommunications sectors. He began his career as analytics intern and has steadily advanced to become a Senior Data Engineer in the telecommunications industry. His career progression highlights his expertise and dedication to using data to drive business success across multiple high-impact industries.

    Beyond his professional work, Lukman co-led an initiative aimed at encouraging young women to pursue careers in technology. Through workshops, seminars, and outreach programs, the initiative “Girls in TECH” has inspired over 1,000 girls to embrace tech careers, with many going on to secure internships or pursue undergraduate degrees in technology fields. As a Data Science Community leader, Lukman has been mentoring data enthusiasts in the best practices of data management.

    Lukman is passionate about the transformative power of data, his goal is to leverage his experience as a data professional and knowledge from the robust Master of Data Science program at UBC to proffer cutting-edge solutions using AI and Machine Learning to improve data protection, governance and ethics challenges currently facing many industries in Nigeria. He is excited to experience the beautiful and diversified Canadian culture and interact with the outstanding MDS faculty, scholars and UBC community, fostering social connections for future collaborations.
