Charles is a visionary civil engineer committed to advancing sustainable development in Africa. Charles overcame significant challenges to access education. With a full scholarship from Generation Rwanda, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with Honours from the University of Rwanda.
Professionally, Charles has contributed to impactful infrastructure projects, starting at the Land Center of Gasabo district, Kigali, Rwanda where he supported master plan implementation and construction permitting. In Canada, Charles continues to design and manage municipal and oil and gas civil infrastructure development projects. Throughout the years, Charles has volunteered his time advocating for youth topics including their participation in decision-making.
Charles pursued the Master of Land and Water Systems to deepen his understanding of sustainable resource management. This program provided him with advanced knowledge in water systems, land management, and best practices for integrating environmental stewardship into infrastructure projects. These skills have been instrumental in shaping his approach to designing resilient infrastructure solutions, particularly stormwater management systems.
Currently enrolled in the Executive Master’s program in Politics and Management of Development – Potential Africa at Science Po, Charles seeks to integrate his engineering expertise with policymaking to tackle Africa’s development challenges. His vision is to position himself as a development leader and strategist playing an impactful role at the intersection of infrastructure and development.
Charles believes that the Master of Land and Water Systems will stimulate his innovation in water system management and provide him with best management practices for the successful implementation of major projects back in Rwanda. In particular he hopes to gain advanced skills in land management. Charles believes that Rwanda needs qualified people for strong water and land management practices given the small size of the country and the competing battle for managing space and resources for people and the natural environment.
