Abenezer Woldehana

By maya zwang on July 5, 2017

Abenezer comes from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. While attending government school, he scored 99% in grade 8 and also straight A’s in grade 10 in Ethiopia’s national examinations, and continued to rank at the top of his class until he won one of three competitive scholarships to Sandford International School and completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP).  He places great value in passing on his knowledge of Mathematics, Science, and English grammar to underprivileged students, and volunteered to teach younger secondary school students three times a week in the public school system.  Abenezer’s passion for science translates to an avid interest in technology, and after being heavily involved in science competitions for the past four years, he aspires to become an Engineer and take action to address the technology problems that exist in Ethiopia and other neighbouring countries.  He believes that the knowledge he acquires at UBC will be crucial for his professional growth, and looks forward to sharing his learning while working with other engineers in the Sub-Saharan region.  Abenezer is pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science at UBC.
